composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work. 
Here is going to stay the art class when you want to remember them!

UNITY AND VARIETY

Hello everybody! 
Today we are going to explain two very important elements in relation with art and design.
Unity  creates a sense of harmony and wholeness, by using similar elements within the composition and placing them in a way that brings them all together.

Variety adds interest by using contrasting elements within the composition.

PROPORTION

Hello children and thank you for beeing at art class.
Before we start today, I want you to look at your foot. Now you have to put it in your forearm. What do you percibe? Exactly! The size of your foot is the same than the distance between your elbow and your arm, I mean, the size of your foot is the same of the lenght of your forearm! This is called proportion. 
Proportion is the relative size of parts within a whole. The human body is an effective example of the design principle.

RHYTHM

Welcome again! Today we are going to learn about rhythm. I am sure that you are thinking about music right now. Very good! We are going to apply this to art! We are becoming autentical artists!

In art, rhythm results from the organized repetition of an element or elements in a work of art.
The three most important elements within this element are repetition, alternation and progression. Let's open our eyes!

Hello everybody! Welcome to art class!
I am sure that you have to study hard all days and one of the methods you follow to do that is remark the key words so that you can pay more attention to them and by this way will not forget them in the exam!
Applying this to art, we can talk about emphasis. Emphasis is created by visually reinforcing something we want the viewer to pay attention to.

BALANCE

Today we are going to discover "balance"... Have you got any idea of what is that? 
Balance is the way in which the elements in visual arts are arranged to create a feeling of equilibrium in a work of art. The two types of balance are symmetry and asymmetry. Let's see them!

TEXTURE

Welcome to class everybody!

Touch something that you have close to you. What do you feel? What you are feeling is its texture. You are feeling the texture of something you are touching physically but artist (like you all) can transmint this element of the reality in a papper.
